Ductility assessment of a 17-4PH steel through simple multiaxial tests

Abstract The present work summarizes the results of an experimental campaign aimed at assessing ductility a wrought 17-4PH steel alloy. A simple specimen reproducing multiaxial stress states through universal testing machine is selected. Finite Element Model (FEM) for each test setup to extract local values and strain in most critical point on onset failure. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technique employed assess field estimated via FEM. collected data are used analyse material ductility, calculating triaxiality deviatoric parameter fracture strain. proposed tests fall range low triaxialities, which less investigated literature. obtained compared with prediction damage model, previously calibrated more conventional tests. accuracy model was fully confirmed by outcome new Eventually, possibility replacing some calibration explored.
